Professor Yanwu Zhu from the University of Science and Technology of China visited the laboratory for academic exchanges

In the afternoon of May 14, 2018, at the invitation of Key Laboratory for Special Functional Material, Professor Yanwu Zhu from University of Science & Technology China visited the laboratory for academic exchanges and made an academic report entitled " Graphite materials based on graphite oxide -- from basic research to industrial applications". The report was presided over by Prof. Yong Zhao, and the teachers and students from the laboratory and relevant scientific research units of Henan University attended the meeting.

The talk described the development process of graphene oxide, and summarized the research advance of the preparation protocols of graphene from graphite oxide, especially for synthesis of three-dimensional porous carbon materials. Through controlling the structure and components of graphene material, the three dimensional porous graphite material was constructed to improve the performance of energy conversion devices. The development trend in this field has carried on with the deep discussion and outlook; In the industrial applications of graphene materials, Prof. Zhu outlined the recent advances in the preparation of graphene materials by his team to their industrial applications.

Prof. Yanwu Zhu is doctoral supervisor. He is also the winner of the National excellent youth fund from NSFC. He obtained his bachelor degree in applied physics from National University of Defense Technology, and obtained his master and doctor degree in physics from Peking University and National University of Singapore, respectively. He won the principal scholarship at National University of Singapore and the excellent fee-paying international students from Ministry of Education of China. Since 2006, he has been a postdoctoral fellow at the National University of Singapore and the University of Texas at Austin, respectively. He has published more than 120 papers in academic journals such as Science and Advanced Materials, and the papers have been cited more than 20,000 times. One of papers has been cited more than 4000 times and his H-factor has been 47. He was awarded the bronze prize of "the star of young science" in Scopus,IUMRS-MRSSyoung scientist award, and the 2017 APEC science innovation research and education award. He was selected as the top ranking list of the Chinese material scientists in Elsevier from 2014 to 2017.
